Goldenrod is an herbaceous perennial native to north-eastern and north-central North America. It has adapted and spread to most of sub-polar North America including Northern Saskatchewan.
Goldenrod has been used in traditional medicine for many conditions, including:
- Urinary tract health: Goldenrod is often used in teas to treat urinary tract inflammation and kidney stones.
- Inflammation: Goldenrod may reduce inflammation and swelling. It can be used as a mouth rinse to treat inflammation of the mouth and throat. Wounds: Goldenrod can be applied to the skin to heal minor wounds.
- Diuretic: Goldenrod acts as a diuretic, which means it increases urine output to flush water from the body.
